UNIQUE FACTS:
"Lucky", Ferncroft Farms foundation dromedary breeding bull was sired by "Oscar", a white bull that was imported by the San Diego Zoo. "Lucky" received his name because he was the only intact male from "Oscar's" offspring. "Lucky" has sired many beautiful white babies and is still going strong.
"Bulghar", Ferncroft Farms foundation bactrian breeding bull was imported from Sweden and carries very strong white genes. He also has produced many beautiful white babies, including a white heifer that holds the auction record for the highest selling calf to date.
Larry is currently working on bringing camel milk to the U.S. market. Camel milk has been called "liquid gold" for its nutritional and healing qualities. Camel milk has three times as much vitamin C as cow's milk and contains high amounts of iron, unsaturated fatty acids and B vitamins according to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization. Camel milk is believed to be an aid for everything from diabetesto autism. Larry Seibel was the first in the United States to provide milk, from a mother camel named "Martha", to aid in creating a series of tests required to ensure the quality of camel milk. Larry Seibel was featured in the Wall Street Journal (July 22, 2009) about his goal to make this commodity available in the U.S.
Larry Seibel, owner of Ferncroft Farms an exotic breeding facility, that he has owned and managed with a great deal of care and expertise for over thirty-five years. Larry has established quite a name for himself in the exotic industry. His clients have come to expect only the best. He is known for the quality of animals he produces as well the consultation he provides before and after the sale.
Larry has the largest herd of bactrian and dromedary camels on the east coast and has raised many rare sought after white camels. In addition to owning and operating Ferncroft Farms for over 35 years, Larry has owned and operated the Triangle Metro Zoo(Raleigh, NC), with a collection of over 400 animals.
His knowledge of animal care and husbandry is indeed a special trait. Larry constantly shares his knowledge with other zoos, owners of exotics and his customers. He has appeared on numerous national TV shows, been interviewed for feature articles in many magazines and newspapers. He is interviewed quite often for his extensive knowledge.
He has produced dogs that have placed at the prestigious Westminster's Dog Show. Most importantly he cares very deeply about these animals, their welfare and their ability to survive in this challenging environment.
